Sam Scardina is primary songwriter, singer and lead guitarist and he's masterful and inventive at all 3. Lyrics are, as he says in "Mary Go Down," about "love and addiction, politics, war, sex, drugs and religion," and often served up in a very funny, poignant manner. The songwriting is, again, second to none incorporating several genres often into one song. Sam's guitar playing is also, quite simply, top notch as he picks out very intricate lead melodies to mix in with great rhythm chops and inventive soloing.
Kayvan Safdari helps out with vocals and harmonies and is an absolute BEAST on the bass guitar! His technical prowess and ability to do things on a bass guitar, fretted or fretless, is ASTOUNDING. And his energy on his instrument is only outmatched by his energy on stage- he is a force to be reckoned with and is CRAZY on stage!
Eric Danielsen rounds out the power trio on drums and is, again, an incredibly gifted and disciplined player weaving intricate rhythms and ferocity on the drums into this very tight knit and powerful power trio. Eric's technique and ability on drums to hit all the stops and starts and temp changes is incredible. And if you want some thunder just wait until he gets thumping on that double bass pedal!
It's quite honestly dumbfounding to us here at The America Rawks Foundation how this band has not gotten more recognition and acclaim than they have. There are VERY FEW BANDS who are able to mash genres up like Nowhere Special and we've not encountered any that can do it as well as these guys do it. You really have to see it to believe it!

Make no mistake about it- Nowhere Special is SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL! Quite simply- there are few bands playing music at the level Nowhere Special is, PERIOD! The level of musicianship and songwriting in this band are second to none. With their unique blending of punk, metal, reggae and ska, often in the same song, their music is energetic, progressive and technically challenging and, ultimately, very FUN and gets the audience skanking, head-banging and moshing all night long. Their live shows and stage presence are FULL of punk rawk energy and are always a party for EVERYONE
